WordPress SMTP Mailer Setup Instructions
What is WordPress SMTP Mailer?
WordPress SMTP is how we connect Gravity Forms to Google so that the emails can be sent and received by Gmail and other email service providers.
Instructions:
- Log into the desired Google/Gmail email/profile,
- Log into WordPress back end/admin
- Install Gravity Forms (follow steps here)
- Instal WP Mail SMTP from WordPress Plugin Repository
- Go to settings > Primary Connection > Launch Setup Wizard >
- Click Let’s Get Started, run wizard walkthrough
- Choose SMTP Mailer – Google/Gmail, Save and Continue
- Click ‘I Agree’ on pop up > LEAVE OPEN IN NEW TAB
- Configure Mailer Settings – Read this link if you get lost
- Log into Google Cloud Console
- Create New Project > Project Name > Create
- Go to APIs & Services > Library > Search GMAIL API
- Enable GMAIL API
- Create Credentials > Which PI are you using? > GMAIL API
- What Data? > User Data > Next
- Configure OAuth Consent
- App Name
- User Support Email ([email protected])
- Developer Contact Email ([email protected])
- Configure Scopes (Optional: don’t touch)
- Click Save and Continue, go to OAuth Client ID
- OAuth Client ID
- Select Application Type > Web Application > Name
- ADD URI/Authorized redirect URIS
- Insert this: https://connect.wpmailsmtp.com/google/
- Click Create
- Download Credentials > Client ID
- Click Done.
- Updating the Publishing Status From Testing to Production
- APIs & Services » OAuth consent screen. Click on the MAKE EXTERNAL, click In Production > Confirm
- APIs & Services > Credentials >OAuth 2.0 Client IDs > Pencil Icon > Opens Client Secret and Client IDGo back to Setup Wizard > Copy Client ID, Client Secret > Save
- Grant Permission on new page > Authorization > Allow Plugin… orange button
- Log into Google next screen > Allow
- Redirects to Configure Mailer Settings, check From Name & From Email > Save and Continue
- Follow the rest of the steps in the wizard, skip optional steps
- Skip Insert WP SMTP Key step – Only for PAID users
- Check Configuration > Congrats, you’ve successfully set up WP Mail SMTP!
- Send Test Email > Insert Address > Send
